They Can Lie But They Can’t Run.

Finally after having to go over the heads of some very poor healthcare provider staff, I had my cataract surgery. It went well  at the Surgical center and for the most part, staff was professional and efficient. What a surprise, like day and night.
I did get a blown vein from the IV in my hand but, that is sometimes the case in elderly patients.  There was no acknowledgment of such by the staff and so, I took it upon myself to take steps of helping it heal  by keeping it elevated and using cold compresses for the horrific bruising. It did heal nicely in twelve days as normal.
I was required to make  a visit one day after surgery and one week after surgery. The Doctor who saw me for both visits , definitely piqued my interest of why the surgeon did not do the follow ups herself. It turned out I did not have to wait long.
Being a retired investigator I was ready. This surgeon required , not requested  but, required ,me to give permission for her to get my records from a second opinion retina specialist I had went to.  Now I believe this was for the sole purpose of covering up the wrong doings of the first retina specialist which they had referred me to. I believed this because, this eye doctor was not in fact a Retina specialist, herself. I really cannot believe they thought I was that stupid! Of course I did not give them that info, She threatened me that my surgery for my other eye would be cancelled so I gave her a name of a doctor in her area of which I said I was not sure. She then told me I would not be seen by them again and that was my last visit.
Two days  before my  scheduled surgery for my other eye, the surgical scheduler called and told me it was cancelled. No surprise… I played confused and she stated I did not provide them with the other Retina Specialist records so it was cancelled. This may have been in violation of HIPPA law. You see a patient alone owns their meical records. sharing is only allowed with permission or in a case of life endangerment.
She then stated my blood pressure was too high at the first surgery (which, by the way they gave me a shot to stabilize my B/P just before that surgery)  and so she was cancelling the surgery. Wow she puts their foot in her mouth every time  she chooses to play important. The last time I looked there is no law that stated you must provide  records from a second opinion!  Now I know, my second eye is not ready for surgery and I also know they tried to make it ready!  See, I had good vision in that eye and the Retina specialist was giving me shots in that same eye to maybe cause a problem , until I stopped it.
Oh yes! Unscrupulous doctors definately do this!  I now understand why they refer all their Medicare patients to the Retina Specialist and why the only patients he sees are those getting intravitreal injections. This is my own personal belief. I smell fraud going on. I could be wrong, however I personally believe there is a very slim outside possibility of that.
Wow, what an easy bilking of Medicare! Besides, the kickbacks for the referrals. I know they are illegal, they know they are illegal, and we both know that law hardly gets enforced! Which is why they get away with it.  Then again there are so, so many ways of paying that kick-back with expensive dinners, vacations, phony speaking engagemnts, etc,That list goes on and on and on.So being a good investigator, surprise!! I promise I have  done something about it! What is even more important I can teach anyone what, and how to do something about these situations. Follow my  blog and learn all I offer.
